Dr Melanie Newton

Melanie has broad experience in dealing with anxiety, panic, depression, trauma (including motor vehicle and industrial accidents), relationship difficulties, personality disorders, and stress. She has a special interest in post-traumatic stress, sleep problems, depression, and couples counselling. Melanie has completed advanced training with an externship in Emotion Focused Therapy for Couples and in Clinical Hypnosis.

With experience in providing psychological assessment and consulting in relation to medico-legal matters, Melanie has extensive experience in Worker’s Compensation, Criminal Injury Compensation and Motor Vehicle Insurance cases. She has also acted as a Single Expert Witness in Family Court matters.

During her career, Melanie has worked as a Clinical Psychologist in a range of mental health services within outpatient, community and inpatient hospital settings. She has offered psychological assessment and treatment to people of all ages as well as couples and families.


Melanie presented at the local TEDx UWA event with a talk titled ‘How To Live Your Eulogy’. The idea is about re-evaluating your life with a focus on your values. Melanie discussed how you can implement your values in practical ways in your every day life to provide you with focus and purpose. Essentially, how to live a meaningful value-directed life. She is passionate about helping people to be the best version of themselves.

Mrs Terri Murphy

Terri has over 15 years of experience helping people to feel better. She has a special interest in anger issues, grief, alcohol addiction, and gambling addiction. She also has broad experience with postnatal depression, depression, anxiety, trauma and post traumatic stress, relationship difficulties, work and interpersonal stressors, issues surrounding self esteem, and issues associated with adjusting to new life circumstances.

Terri has extensive experience in Worker’s Compensation, Criminal Injury Compensation, and Motor Vehicle Insurance cases.

Terri uses evidence-based models of psychotherapy including behaviour therapy, cognitive-behaviour therapy, interpersonal therapy, schema focussed therapy, solution focused therapy and mindfulness based interventions. She works collaboratively with clients to build a strong therapeutic relationship and to facilitate change through promoting mental health and wellbeing.

Terri has worked in Australia and England and has over 15 years experience.

Dr Brett Jenkins

IMG_0347_FotorBrett is our Practice Manager and Business Development Manager. So although he is not one of our clinicians, he is an integral part of the team. His focus is to ensure that everyone feels welcome at the practice, and that the needs of our referrers are being exceeded.
